1. Publish Relevant Content
Quality content is the number one driver of your search engine rankings and there is no substitute for great content. Each page should focus on a keyword or keyword phrase your customers might use to find your service. Use this keyword in the title of the page and a little bit throughout the article.
2. Update Your Content Regularly
Your fans love fresh content and Search engines do, too. Regularly updated content is viewed as one of the best indicators of a site’s relevancy, so be sure to keep it fresh.
3. Metadata Tags Are Important
I know the word Metadata makes most people cringe. It’s code and doesn’t mean anything to people. But it means a lot to Google so ask for help and get it done. Remember the keyword from Tip #2? Now you use it in the Title Metadata, Description Metadata and Keyword Metadata. The Title Metadata does not have to be a complete sentence. The Description Metadata should be a couple short sentences. And the Keyword Metadata is just keywords separated by commas.
4. Have a Link-worthy Site
Don’t just use “Click Here” as the link text to another page on your website. Use those Keywords again. But don’t over do it.
5. Use alt Tags
Always describe your visual and video media using those Keywords in alt tags. They allow search engines to locate your page, which is crucial. If you also name the photo file using Keywords then those photos can show up in Google’s Image results.
Once you’ve done these steps wait a month or so and check out your rankings. I know you’ll be surprised! If you need help with any of these tasks, feel free to contact us at 206-778-6550.
