00:00 Individuals can win on LinkedIn. Unknowns can become knowns on LinkedIn. You can become LinkedIn famous. I’m going to show you how you can get up to 10,000 views on LinkedIn within one month by following these simple steps. I’m about to change your life.
00:40 The first thing we’re going to look at is the crazy 2020 LinkedIn statistics for why you need to be on the platform. The second thing is exactly what you can do, some simple, highly-actionable steps to actually go viral and get up to 10,000 views a month on LinkedIn. And the final thing I’m going to share is how LinkedIn personally has transformed my life and the life of my agency, Pearl Lemon.
01:22 2020 LinkedIn statistics. 303 million people use LinkedIn actively on a monthly basis, 303 million, and the crazier part of that is 40% of those users, 40% use it daily. We’re talking about 120 million, 120 million people use LinkedIn actively on a daily basis. More than half of that traffic comes from a mobile device. An average LinkedIn user, whether they’re on a mobile, whether they’re on desktop, spends an average of 17 minutes a month on the site.
02:25 I want to ask you how many millionaires, what percentage of millionaires do you think use LinkedIn? 1%, 5%, 10%? Think about that, 10% of millionaires using LinkedIn.
33% of millionaires are using LinkedIn. That is one in three millionaires are using LinkedIn.
03:04 303 million active monthly users, 40% of those users using it daily, the average time on site 17 minutes, more than half of the traffic coming from mobile device.
The second-largest user base being Indians.
I take you through the five steps, you need to follow to make sure that you start going viral on LinkedIn.
03:50 LinkedIn is a platform that most people engage with on mobile, make sure that you’re writing content that’s designed for mobile. Don’t use long sentences. Make sure that you put spaces between the actual sentences you do use, and your content will begin appearing that much more beautifully, and that much more engaging.
04:23 Statistics, industry updates. Do not do well on LinkedIn at all. We are storytellers, we like to tell and hear the stories, every post you write, make sure that it embodies some kind of story. Stories sell, statistics and industry updates do not.
04:49 Be controversial. To take advantage of how LinkedIn’s algorithm determines whether you’ve got a post that’s engaging, successful, getting likes, getting comments, being shared, the fastest way that you can do that when you put your story together, is to put it together with something that is controversial.
“SEO is dead. Is SEO dead?” That’s a controversial title.
06:02 Be emotional. Think about influencers, think about the whole marketplace at large. The more you’re emotional, and the more you’re honest, and the more you share some of your struggles, as well as some of your victories, and really engage with the audience, the more likely you are going to be able to connect with them. This is an actual huge element of it.
Talk as much about your personal struggles as well as your failures because people take great actual reflection from the failures that you’ll speak about. So if you engage in those five things.
06:57 Hashtags. Do make use of hashtags in the actual bottom of your post. If you’re not using them yet, then look at someone else within your network, particularly an influencer, and see how they’re using hashtags right now.
07:19 Adding people. Make sure that you look within your network, and when you create a post, that talks about people that helped you through struggles, or people that you find inspirational, make sure you at all of the relevant people. You can do it within the post, you can do it within the comments, but aim to actually at five to seven people per post that you’re making to start driving that engagement, because when they like, comment and engage with your actual post, it will also go out to their wider network, and in that way you’ll get boosted up upon the actual LinkedIn algorithm.
07:58 What time of day to post in. Where is your audience? What region is your audience in? What time zone are they in, and when are they actually most likely to engage? Look based upon your historical data, you can look based upon your geographic region, and then you’ll be able to determine when is the best time of day to post.
08:43 LinkedIn has got me to 25,000 connections on the actual platform, it’s helped me win probably over £200,000 worth of work, it helps my sales team use it as a reference point to show, it’s also got me to a TEDx speech.
