*First Tip – Select Your Keywords Properly
Before you want to be rank on Google, you need to know what are the keywords you want to target.
The very first step is to go Adwords – Planning – Keyword Planner
Using this simple Google search tool gives you a quick idea what are the keywords you like to rank on Google.
Are they competitive?
Are there enough searches per month to be profitable?
What are some of the long tail keywords that you can target?
You want to divide the keywords into 2 main groups.
Main keywords are about 5 – 15 keywords.
Secondary keywords are about 10 – 30 keywords.
*Second Tip – Hyperlink Your Keywords
By having your keywords in place, you want to include those keywords within the content of your website.
You do want to do an extra step.
For your main keyword, you want to hyperlink, and link it back to the home page of your website.
Nevertheless, you don’t want to over do it, if not…
…Google might deem you as using some black hat strategies.
So, a good rule of thumb is about 1 – 3 keywords per page hyperlinked would be more than enough.
*Third Tip – Name Your Images Using Your Keyword
Many web developers are naming their logo images file name as: logo1.jpg
That’s a very general name, and Google would not be able to rank it well.
By having proper names for your images, helps in the Google Images.
Many people does not just want the website searches, at times, they are looking for images, and it’s a great way to get extra traffic from there.
For example, I have a client who are in Yacht Charter business, and the main keyword I want to target is yacht charter.
A much better images file name for the logo would be: yacht-charter-bob-marine.jpg
This will have a better chance to rank the image in Google, than any other file name.
