In this video we are going to discuss some tips which will help you optimize your Android app content for the Play Store. This will help you increase your ranking on the Play Store, it will also help you get more organic downloads.
Let’s get started.
Tip number one – do some keyword research for your app. Make sure your app title starts with your brand name followed by some very important keywords. For example, if you are running an e-commerce store then your keywords would be something like buy, sell or whatever it is that you’re selling. So make sure it starts with your brand name followed by some keywords. You can check some examples like Amazon or eBay or Google Maps and you will find they follow the same pattern. Keep in mind that keep the length to about characters at max.
Tip number two – let’s talk about description. In the app description you have about characters to use and that is a lot of space. So do your keyword research well, figure out for what keywords do you want to rank on the Play Store. Do some competitive research as well – what keywords to your competitors rank for and then once you’re done with figuring out the list of keywords start writing your description. I’d recommend that you keep the length of the description to be about , to , characters. Keep in mind as soon as you make a change in the description go back to your organic results and see if the ranking is changing and if the organic app download numbers are changing and if it does you’re probably on the right track.
Tip number three – your app icon. Now obviously this does not directly affect your ranking, but app icons are something that needs to be eye catchy to catch your users attention and what will make them download. You need to make sure that your icon stands out when it’s placed between the competitors.
Tip number four – app screenshots.
Tip number five – a preview video.
Tip number six – App store ratings. App store ratings play a huge role in deciding your organic downloads and your ranking on the Google Play Store, so you need to make sure you consistently get five star reviews and your overall average are above the competitors. In case you get a one-star rating or a two-star rating you will immediately see a drop in your organic app downloads. If you don’t believe me go check out the statistics and you will see the same. So you need to make sure that you get your users to give you star ratings in the app and in case someone does leave a negative review you need to get in touch with them and you need to ask them what the problems are, fix the app, get back to them and get them to change the review to star again and you will see good amount of organic downloads if you can do that.
Tip number seven – reply to reviews. You need to make sure that no matter what reviews are left by your customers on your Play Store listing you need to reply to them whether it’s a one star or a five star. You need to constantly have a conversation with them. That tells Google algorithms that you are actively pursuing your customers and trying to make them happy and they would try and rank you above those competitors who do not do this.
Tip number eight – app localization. You need to go under the statistics sections on Play Store and check out which countries are your app most popular in. So let’s say your app is extremely popular in India, so you need to make sure that your app is customized for languages that the Indian people speak, maybe in Hindi maybe Tamil depending on whichever geography your app is most used in. Try and customize your app to make it available in the local language this will give a good SEO boost to your app ranking and organic downloads as well.
Tip number nine – firebase indexing. You need to get your app indexed on google firebase. What this does is makes the content of your app searchable on Google search through mobile and when someone finds something and clicks on it and if they don’t have your app, Google will directly take them to the Play Store listing get them to download the app. So essentially you’re creating deep links in the Google search results and that’s something you need to do.
Tip number ten – app size. You need to make sure that your app is as small as possible. Smaller than the competitors perhaps because the smaller your app is the more likelihood that a user will be able to download it more conveniently and if they like the app they will rate and review your app. So try and make sure to keep the app at least under one hundred MB.
Tip number eleven – app updates.
