How do you know if someone is likely to link to you? If you see that some site is linking to ALL of your competitors, but not you – the odds are that he just doesn’t know about you yet. So your job is to reach out to this guy and look for opportunities to get included.
To begin with, you need to find out if there are any sites that link to your competitors, but do not link to your site.
How to find these sites? Luckily at Ahrefs we have a tool that does just that – Link Intersect tool (https://ahrefs.com/labs/intersect).
All you need to do is fill in the targets with your competitors sites and the last one with your own site, and click ‘Show link opportunities’ button. You may choose to get a report including either sites that are linking to ALL of your competitors or sites linking to any two or ANY of your competitors, but don’t link to you.
Next, you need to check all the pages of sites from the report to see if there is a chance for you to secure a link to your own site on those pages.
This way you can easily find new link opportunities with Ahrefs Link Intersect tool.
