SEO is a black box and there are a lot of misconceptions of what SEO is and what your goals should be.
In this tutorial, Sam Oh busts a myth that SEOs and prospective clients often believe.
Ranking #1 on Google = more traffic.
But higher Google rankings doesn’t always translate into more organic traffic.
In our study of over 100,000 keywords, we did the following:
► Took over 100,000 non‐branded search queries with at least 1,000 searches per month in the US;
► Pulled the top 10 ranking pages for each of them;
► Pulled the total US search traffic for each of the pages;
► Calculated how often the top‐ranking page got the most search traffic.
Our results showed that the top ranking page only gets the most search traffic 49% of the time.
This means that 51% of the time, pages that rank lower than the #1 position are getting more search traffic.
This video breaks the SEO myth behind ranking position so you can focus on what matters most to you and your clients: getting more organic traffic.
