RV Solar Panel Setup Instructions

You haven’t experienced the joy of having an RV until you’ve had one. What if, besides having an excellent way to run your RV, you also had an environmentally friendly way to run your RV? Your recreational vehicle will benefit significantly from this modification, and you will use your generator much less frequently. Disconnect the batteries and any other power sources, such as the generator and the shore power cord, after determining what you need and purchasing it. When you’re done placing the panels, protect them from dust by covering them with paper or cardboard.

Next, locate a spot on the RV’s roof that will fit snugly or in many spots if you own multiple RVs. It needs to be where a vent or other opening provides easy access to the wire. They should be no closer than 8 inches to the edge of the RV roof, and the roof must be robust enough to support them.

Once you have located a suitable area, you must designate the exact locations for the horses. You must get the alignment of these just right. Ensure they are correctly aligned using a laser or other straight-line producing device.

Mounting holes must be drilled after the area has been indicated. Verify that the drill bits correspond in size to the pits the mounting requires. Avoid damaging the RV’s existing wiring by accidentally drilling into it.

After marking and drilling the appropriate holes, you may set your mounts in place and fasten them using the screws that came with your horses. You should also prepare for gaps around the holes by holding a sealer.

The next step is putting the panel itself into the mounts and snugging them down. The type of panel you purchase for your RV will determine precisely where you put them.

Find the most convenient location inside your RV for your regulator’s control panel. The next step is to cut a hole in the RV wall large enough to accommodate the control panel. Above the RV fridge is an excellent spot to install the regulator.

Now that your panel is wired up, you may run the wires to your regulator’s new location and join them there, ensuring proper polarity at all times.

Now connect your RV’s batteries to the regulator’s battery cables. Again, verify that the positive wire is attached to the RV’s positive terminal and that the negative wire is connected to the RV’s negative terminal. Once you’ve reconnected the terminals to the RV battery, the solar panel will begin charging the battery independently.
