Need more traffic to your niche website? Get the checklist here: http://nichesiteproject.com/offpage-seo-audit/

It’s hard to figure out why your niche site isn’t ranking in Google or not getting traffic.

1. Maybe you followed the guide in blog posts or the process laid out in podcasts, but your site doesn’t seem to get any traffic.
2. Even worse, your site isn’t even ranking in Google.
3. Or maybe you do have a little traffic, a few dozen visitors a day, and make a few sales, but your site has zero growth.

A common question asked with regards to getting traffic to websites is “I have a site and it’s not ranking well in Google, what can I do to make it rank quicker so that I get traffic?”

90% of the time the answer is the same. Essentially the website does not have enough backlinks.

If someone is attempting to rank an individual page, it’s important to build links to that page. Not just your site in general but to that specific URL.

The links need to be high quality. Sometimes blog comments are used to attempt and rank a page. Now. Blog comments are great for relationship building and making friends with other bloggers. But it’s highly unlikely that a page will be rank in Google via blog commenting alone.

*The only exception to this is if you have a Keyword Golden Ratio [KGR] term. Most of the time you don’t even require blog comments to rank these terms. If you’ve not heard of the KGR check it out here.

For a more competitive term with a higher search volume, it’s hard to know how many backlinks you need. A good place to start is by looking at your competition’s backlinks using tools such as Ahrefs and Majestic. You’ll need to look at the number of DoFollow and Referring Domains with Referring Domains being the most important metric to go by.

Get around 15 backlinks to start off with and see what happens with that.
On top of backlinks, your on page SEO needs to be implemented correctly.

– You need to make sure that your key phrase is in your H1 and H2 tag.
– You need to have the correct amount of keyword density.
– You need to make sure that your images are titled with terms related to your key phrase.
– You need to make sure that the Alt tags are set up correctly.
– You need to make sure that your page is rich in multimedia
– And most of the time you need to make sure that your page is longer than your competitions.

Research has shown that the average page length for an article in the number 1 spot is around 2000 words long. But it’s important to assess your competition. It may be possible to rank for something shorter than this, but it also may require something that is much, much longer.

On page SEO is a prerequisite for off page SEO to work correctly. So make sure everything is set-up, and you should start getting traffic
